LaBOLA at the Assembly Hall of the Provincial Council during the Biennial of Pontevedra in 2025, on September 26 at 8:00 PM
In a perpetual spiral movement, three performers exchange costumes, bring objects to life, and compose with the present moment and its accidents. From this movement arise fleeting images, composed in real time in a game of colors and ever-changing registers. Free of all artifice, on the same level as the audience, LaBOLA invades spaces and opens up an infinite path for the imagination.
“I imagine that we could all be dancing non-stop… all at once and doing more or less the same thing; continuously transforming, going through all kinds of experiences; starting, for instance, from ourselves. Exchanging shirts, pants, hats, shoes, towels, and dresses… shapes, bellies, hair, noses, chicken thighs, skulls… camel hair, long skirts, raincoats, carpets, tables and chairs, cigarettes and brooms, music and lights, books, mops and knives… Exchanging bodies and lives, stories and lies, women and men; exchanging horns, complaints and asses; exchanging names, faces, and passports.”
La Ribot is a choreographer, dancer, and visual artist who, throughout her career, has developed a body of work based on exploring the boundaries of the body, dance, performance, and visual arts, always evolving and experimenting with new ways and spaces to present her work. In 2021, she received the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement at the Venice Biennale of Dance, adding to a long list of honors that includes Spain’s National Dance Award, the Gold Medal for Merit in the Fine Arts awarded by the Spanish Ministry of Culture, and the Swiss Grand Award for Dance in 2019.
