Jessica Stockholder (Seattle, USA, 1959) is one of the most influential sculptors of her generation. Her work spans over three decades and is characterized by a compromise with color and materials. Her way of interpreting objects has turned into a hallmark of Strockholder's creation. She participates in the spheres of conceptualization but also of construction, by creatin associations between the identifiable and the abstract.
Stockholder’s interest is focused on the assembly of objects with different natures and origins. Her wotk is an interrogation about the heterogeneous through an additive process of object superpositioning. In this process, she combines objects from the real world and objects created by her without bringing chaos, due to her control of space and its contents, where she reaches an orderliness that at first sight seems chaotic or incoherent.
