”Creativity is the innate search for originality” notes Dr.Juan Viña, president of the Cañada Blanch Foundation, in his text on the creative process that shapes and gives its name to the new series he directs. A series of gatherings to explore this essential trait of the human condition, which allows us to the question, imagine, and open new paths of the knmowledge in any discipline.

The artist Inma Femenía, winner of the 2024 Premi Col·leccions Universitats Públiques u Cañada Blanch, inaugurates the series ”The Creative Process”. Through her work, Femenía investigates the relationships between matter and visual perception, highlighting its connection to the digital realm. In her installations or sculptures, she works from the intrinsic properties of materials and their interaction with light.

This event proposes a journey through the creative process that the Valencian artist has followed in creating pieces of great subtlety and sensoriality, committed to her time. Exhibited internationally in countries such as Germany, France, Italy, China, Portugal, Colombia and the United States.

Dr. Juan Viña interviews in this series outstanding figures from different areas of creation to delve into the essential ingredients of human creativity: intelligence, imagination, boldness, risk, and passion.

The work of Inma Femenía is characterized by exploring the relationship between matter and visual perception, emphasizing its connection with the digital realm. Her work tightens the links between the virtual and real worlds, reflecting her interest in the imagery constructed through new technologies.

Among her latest site-specific installations are Iris de Foc at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona; Aire Magenta at the IVAM in Valencia; Arc al Cel, a permanent work at the CaixaForum in Valencia; and Infraleve, a solo exhibition at Bombas Gens Centre d’Art in Valencia.

Throughout her career, she has participated in numerous national and international group exhibitions, such as MK2 (Düsseldorf, 2023), MG16 (Cologne, 2022), La Capella de l’Antic Asil (Alcoy, 2021), The Flat-Massimo Carasi (Milan, 2019), Shede Art Centre (Sichuan, China, 2018), and Praz-Delavallade (Paris, 2017).

In 2017, she was nominated for the Paulo Cunha e Silvia Art Prize of Porto and that same year won the Senyera Prize for Visual Arts of Valencia. Her work has been acquired by institutions such as the INELCOM collection, the DKV collection, José Luis Soler Vila Collection (Bombas Gens), the Generalitat Valenciana, and the “la Caixa” Foundation.

Juan Viña Ribes (JRViña) MD. PhD, President of the Cañada-Blanch Foundation. Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Valencia. General Director of the Research Foundation of the Clinical University Hospital of Valencia , INCLIVA Health Research Institute (2000–2012). His international research activity has taken place at The Metabolic Research Laboratory, Nuffield Department of Clinical Medicine, Radcliffe Infirmary, University of Oxford, UK; in the Department of Anesthesia, Hershey Medical Center USA (Assistant Professor); and in the Department of Physiology, The Chicago Medical School (Visiting Research Professor) over a decade. He has published more than 100 articles in high-impact international journals in the field. He has participated in more than 30 scientific projects funded through competitive calls. He has six six-year research terms. He has supervised fifteen doctoral theses. Awarded the DANONE Scientific Career Award (2011). Full Member and Secretary General of the Royal Academy of Medicine of the Valencian Community. Full Member of the Academy of Pharmacy of the Valencian Community. President of the External Scientific Committee of the Biobizkaia Health Research Institute (Hospitals of Cruces, Barakaldo, and Galdakao).
