Exhibition Project Category for Val del Omar · From Gutenberg to Faraday
Last Wednesday, March 17th, Hoy es Arte held the Awards Ceremony for the first edition of the Soledad Lorenzo Awards for Art Galleries. The event was presided over by María Dolores Jiménez-Blanco, Director of Fine Arts in the Spanish Ministry of Culture, and streamed live from Reina Sofía Museum in Madrid.
Manuel Borja-Villel presented the Award for best Exhibition Project to Alberto de Juan, director of Max Estrella Gallery, for the show Val del Omar. From Gutenberg to Faraday.
«I am honored to have participated in bringing Val del Omar to his rightful place in Art History», pointed out Alberto de Juan during his acceptance speech. «I would also like to claim the importance of the galleries. We’ve all put a great deal of energy in not giving up, and launching new projects that sometimes end up not having the impact they deserve. We have to state that the gallery is the ideal place to discover artists’ research and proposals. In many cases, we are guided merely by intuition in the hope these projects may work since we are showing brand-new things».
