Loris Cecchini

GAPS and other projects

Mar 31 - May 6, 2005

Loris Cecchini (Milan, 1969) is a young Italian artist who has attracted attention from national and international critics during the last decade. In his second project at Max Estrella, Cecchini completes the work exhibited last summer in the important retrospective that Casal Solleric in Palma de Mallorca dedicated to him, the first of his large-scale projects.

His creative thinking, focused on the concern for the organic and fluid aspect of his works, unfolds on digitally manipulated photographs and installations with soft objects in a dialogue between both supports, transgressing the limits of reality without totally abandoning it. Cecchini recreates with his sculptures, installations, models and photographs a possible world, disturbing due to its direct references to the everyday environment of any place, in a suspended time. His works faithfully represent the mixture of nature and artifice that interests him so much, the game in which simulated space-objects, designed virtually on a computer, are superimposed on real material.
