Miler Lagos

‘Material Witness’ Collective exhibition at Rubell Museum Washington DC

Sep 3 2025 - Oct 31 2026

The artist Miler Lagos is part of the group exhibition “Material Witness” presented by the Rubell Museum in Washington, D.C.

The Rubell Museum has included Miler Lagos’ work in Material Witness, an exhibition that brings together thirty contemporary artists whose practices expand the history of assemblage through the use of non-traditional materials.

The piece, part of the Rubell Collection, belongs to a series of tree-shaped sculptures carved directly from blocks of paper. During the process, friction burns the material, infusing it with a color, texture, and scent that evoke real wood. Some trunks were sculpted from books on art history and economics, serving as a reflection on the cultural structures that shape the idea of order.
