Eugenio Ampudia presents Constellation 39°23’29.3”N 4°39’11.6”W, a visual narrative that captures the image of seven illuminated holm oaks arranged to mirror the spatial position of the seven stars forming the Big Dipper.
Constellation, a site-specific intervention, offers a novel approach to art in nature by anchoring on earth the mirror image of a group of stars, thereby activating new meanings within a specific landscape. According to Ampudia, “one of the most compelling aspects of the action was the attempt to achieve a highly expressive result through such a minimal alteration of nature.”
The production of this work, supported by Acción Cultural Española (AC/E), is the result of the artist’s residency as part of the special project The Nature of the Landscape, curated by Mónica Martínez Bordiú.
