‘BIENVENIDOSAMIDISCO/LOVEISLOVEWINS’ – Permanent Installation at SLS Brickell’s façade, Miami
German artist Markus Linnenbrink has recently installed a colourful 40,000 square feet mural across the façade of Miami’s SLS Brickell hotel and residences. Once again the artist has mastered his signature ‘drip painting’ technique.
The artwork gives a burst of colour to the district; Linnenbrink has brighten downtown’s monochromatic urban area with a colossal, chromatic landscape, in a thoughtful collaboration with Jorge. M. Perez, architect and author.
The installation wraps the exterior of the building and sees vibrant stripes span from ground floor to the uppermost levels of the building. He describes his work as a range of various hued bands which are painted-DRIPPED in succession around the hotel building.
The subtleness of blend of colours, thin like ribbons are interspersed between the larger blocks, giving the mural a spontaneous sensibility. “My goal was to create something that was born out of the process,” Linnenbrink says, adding, “Everything is painted in one run from top to bottom, so there’s no stopping. We’re basically treating the whole giant façade as a canvas.”
