The ARCO-BEEP Electronic Arts Award during the ARCO 2018 edition has gone to the artist Eugenio Ampudia with the work “Try Not To Think So Much” (2018). For this installation, the artist uses circuits and technologies that distort sounds of previous art history discourses. The viewer can interact with this work generating “random music” that establishes an allegorical meaning to what Ampudia conceptually proposes.
Eugenio Ampudia is, without a doubt, one of the Spanish artists who has worked with greater intensity, coherence and rigor in the field of “new media”, presenting installations and works with a significant critical character and also reviewing the condition of the works of art in the time of spectacularization. Ampudia has carried out important exhibitions in prestigious galleries and museums. The BEEP Collection already includes two other pieces by this artist who is now worthy of the thirteenth edition of the award at the ARCOmadrid fair. This work will therefore become part of most important Electronic Arts collection in Spain.
