Ana María Caballero

Ana María Caballero at Zero 10 Art Basel Miami

Dec 3, 2025

Art Basel and OpenSea commissioned Ana María Caballero to create In Record Time to commemorate the launch of Zero 10, the fair’s new digital sector. At the core of the collection is Training Data, a poem in which Caballero situates a historic moment within her own story.

Caballero invited various artists to hand-annotate Training Data, engaging in an act of analog generativity—the notion that readers and writers construct each other in an endlessly procreative exchange. The coexistence of analog marginalia and digital presentation reflects how memory is presently archived, through experience and code.
By visualizing multiple encounters with a single poem, Caballero illuminates the evolving life of a text, forever shaped by interpretation, time and context.
The tension between private and public memory drives Caballero’s literary practice, who believes we access the universal through the personal and the transcendental through the mundane. This same tension propels The Years, French Nobel Laureate Annie Ernaux’s monumental act of collective remembrance, to whom Caballero dedicates the poem.
