Pedro Castrortega

Sep 21 - Oct 30, 1999

Pedro Castrortega (Piedrabuena, 1956) inaugurates the season of Max Estrella gallery with an exhibition that under the coincidental title of "Initiations" is a starting point that refers to experiences occurred in the past.

Relying on Pliny the Elder, who argued that the principle of painting consisted in drawing the contour of a human shadow through lines, Castrortega takes as a starting point the concern for the relationship between figure and shadow, between reality and reflection, which allows him a poetic game of multiple readings and mysteries.
