Next Thursday, May 6, Carlos León opens his first show at Max Estrella Gallery.
Handmade is the title of this exhibition in which the artist has made a careful selection of recent work whose common denominator has been the search for pure painting.
Carlos León appears on the art scene in Paris in the 70s linked to the international avant-garde. As an introducer of the support-surfaces trend in Spain, he exhibits in the best galleries and museums, but his ten-year stay in New York keeps him away from the national scene.
With this exhibition, Max Estrella wants to vindicate Carlos León as one of the most outstanding artists of his generation who has wisely managed to combine maturity and freshness.
Its sources go through American abstract expressionism and Chinese monochrome painting although the base comes from a deep knowledge of the history of art.
