Laura González Cabrera

Laura González Cabrera was born in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria in 1976, a city where she lives and works. Her painting delves into the expressive possibilities of contemporary painting, making use of the languages of the media. Through encrypted systems, based on mathematical and binary codes, her work is configured as a pictorial response to the massive production and consumption of the flow of images and texts, as well as to the limits of their perception. Her gesture, which is content, restrains and moderates itself in each brushstroke. Through the resource of strangeness, the artist invites viewers to pause to see and read.

Laura González Cabrera has exhibited individually in Berlin, Badajoz, Madrid, and at the Centro Atlántico de Arte Moderno (CAAM) in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, among others. She has produced murals in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, A Coruña, Murcia, Madrid, Naples, Turin, Milan, Dakar, Paris, and Beijing. In 2015, she received the DKV award for best Spanish artist. Her work is represented in the DKV collection, the Canarian Foundation for the Development of Painting of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, the Centro Atlántico de Arte Moderno (CAAM) Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Tenerife Espacio de las Artes (TEA), and in private collections.
